Why Strait of Hormuz Matters
The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow waterway between Iran and Oman — roughly 21 miles wide at its narrowest point. About 20% of the world's oil supply passes through this strait daily. When tensions rise or mines are deployed, global oil prices spike immediately.
In this game, you play as a minesweeper clearing the shipping lanes. The oil price ticker reflects real market anxiety — if WTI crude reaches $150/barrel during your game, a random mine auto-detonates, simulating the economic fallout of a blocked strait.
How to Play
- Left-click to reveal water cells. Numbers show adjacent mine count.
- Right-click to flag suspected mines (cycles: flag → ? → clear).
- Click a number to chord — auto-reveals neighbors if correct flags are placed.
- Clear all water cells without hitting a mine to win.
The Oil Price Mechanic
Watch the WTI and Brent oil prices at the top. They fluctuate every few seconds. If WTI crude oil hits $150/barrel while you're playing, a random unrevealed mine automatically detonates — game over. This creates time pressure beyond the puzzle itself: clear the strait before the economic crisis triggers a catastrophe.
